Wood Pellets vs. Shavings?! which to use?!?

For years I've been using wood pelleted bedding. I've been thinking to try shavings. what are the pros and cons?? which do you recommend and why?? how many big bags (or bales) should i use for a 10x12 stall or a 12x12 stall? thanks in advance!
